We are pretty good at compartmentalizing spirituality. Sort of like saying, “well, God is good enough to help me find a date, or maybe a new job… but not, fix this broken arm, or heaven forbid,… help my project along to financial and engineering success. But remember that God is the project manager of our life; our whole life.
Our limited perspective may force us to think in terms of the pieces and parts of our life when we turn to God in prayer. But remember the wholeness of the man (and woman) created in God’s image and likeness from the very ‘opening credits’ of the Bible. Genesis (actually: origin) says “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…’ Ask yourself, ‘What is the likeness of God?’ Now, that’s a very holy question.
Take a moment on that one….
Continuing, “And God saw everything that he had made and behold, it was very good”.
.. Sure, there have been many healing of relationships, getting along when there was conflict, or maybe a sense of injustice. But rarely, if ever, a prayer for my work to succeed. To prosper and increase… to bless those future inhabitants. For clients to make money from my efforts, for an ease and certainty along the way. … I want to fix this.
How about you? Do you let God in?
“For I know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future (an expected end).”
“Then, you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will turn to you”
“You will seek me, and find me, when you seek me with all your heart”
Jeremiah 29
